Zak – you were such a huge friend for a portion of my life - I can’t believe you are gone. There are so many good memories that will stay with me always from our times as housemates and friends. From the first time we met in Manchester in 2001, when you were doing your constant hand drumming, we were great mates. All of us loved hanging out in your room in Owen’s Park on the *acquired* sofa and listening to RATM, watching/ignoring whatever Buffy episode was on, talking shit until daylight came, and debriefing after many a drunken night out. I remember many great times in all our houses – in Whitby Road in particular, watching you and John play Mario Kart for far more hours than any grown men should, drinking at the Friendship Inn followed by table football at the OC and dancing to DJ Slatex (wonder if you still had the signed bank note in your quest to one day be rich?!). You often took the lead in managing jobs no one else wanted, like engaging our awful landlord Mr Sharif when a brick came through our window in Manchester, and hiring/firing Villi, our ever zealous Bulgarian cleaner, in Kathleen Road. Over the years we had various trips and adventures, with many great escapades, and I’m truly grateful for that time together. In addition to all that you were probably one of the most intelligent people I ever knew, and it was great to talk with and learn so much from you. I feel sad knowing we’d not been in touch so much in recent years following our move to Canada, but I hope you knew that you always held a place in my heart, and still do. You'll be missed. Leonie Xx
